Replacement Canopy

Metalworks London recently got the opportunity of fabricating an architectural replacement canopy for a heritage building situated in the prestigious area of the Holland Park, London. A canopy is a tastefully designed overhead roof constructed commonly over the front door of a building. The Canopy not only enhances the magnificence of a building but it also protects it from rain and dust. It also keeps the building cool by giving it shelter from excessive sunshine. There are wooden canopies also but for a listed building such as this, metal canopies prove to be the best option. Metal canopies are beautiful and at the same time they are durable also.

Metal Canopy for listed building

A listed building like that of the Holland Park is invaluable therefore when we were commissioned to fabricate the replacement canopy we paid great attention towards every detail. When we were contacted by the customer, we got an appointment fixed with him to inspect the field area. After the inspection, we had a long discussion with the customer, about the fabrication and installation of the metal canopy. After studying every detail and taking the measurements, now we had to begin the process of fabricating the canopy in our own backyard.

First we had to build the railing matching to the required measurements. The next step was to make the decorative scrolls which we had designed to keep it in sync with the other buildings in that street. We attached the scrolls to the railing by the process of welding. Welding is the procedure of joining two parts of metal by heating on an extremely high temperature. In our third step we made the stylish canopy post which would be supporting the canopy roof. Now our canopy was ready for installation but the glass was yet to be added. The addition of the glass was our next step. The glass was cut in a very elegant pattern that complemented the design of the metal canopy frame beautifully. Later, it was tucked on the canopy giving it a grand appearance. Now the fully decked up canopy was ready for installation, much to the admiration of our customer.
